Bar de la Marine
Pagnol's bar on the quay, where pastis and card games still set the pace of an afternoon.

The Bar de la Marine on the Quai de Rive Neuve is the room Marcel Pagnol wrote into the culture, and it has stayed a neighbourhood bar despite it: zinc counter, wooden tables, cards, and no interest in reinventing itself for anybody.
The order is pastis, served with a jug of iced water so you mix it yourself. A table on the pavement in late light, with the masts across the water, is the cheapest good hour in the city. Trading hours publish once verified.
