Hidden upstairs at the Hôtel Bellevue on the Quai du Port, La Caravelle began as a sailors’ bar in the 1920s and still has the timber, the ship models and the pleasantly worn atmosphere to prove it.
The reason to climb the stairs is the narrow balcony: a handful of tables directly over the harbour with Notre-Dame de la Garde on the skyline. It cannot be booked and it fills before sunset. Hours and service arrangements publish once verified.
