Catedral de Mallorca (La Seu)

Few European cathedrals stand where this one does, leaning over the water inside the Renaissance walls. La Seu is a fourteenth-century Gothic building that kept accepting new work: Antoni Gaudí reworked the sanctuary in the early twentieth century, and Miquel Barceló turned a side chapel into a ceramic sea of loaves and fishes in the twenty-first.

The nave is lit through one of the largest rose windows in the Gothic world. Terrace tours climb onto the roofs in the warmer half of the year and are booked separately from general admission — plan around Sundays, when the tourist visit does not run.
